The results are in, and the Barbara A. Sizemore Academy has claimed victory in the 99Math Multiplication Competition finals! A thunderous round of applause goes to Akasha (7th grade) for securing 1st place and walking away with the $100 grand prize!
Joining her on the podium are Sizemore’s own Nakia (2nd place) and Javon (3rd place)—proving that Sizemore came ready to dominate. Special recognition goes to Principal Mama Nakia and teacher Mama Jessica, whose hard work inspired this top-three sweep.
Though Sizemore shined brightest, we’re proud of our Betty Shabazz Academy finalists, who rounded out the 4th-6th places with outstanding performances.

In an early prediction, Mama Christa, one of Shabazz’s celebrated teachers, was overheard declaring, “Shabazz already won! Mama Nakia (Sizemore Principal) is going to lose her bet to Baba Sundiata (Shabazz Principal)!” With such competitive energy between the campuses, it’s clear that each school’s pride is on the line.
This year's winners will walk away with big rewards: $100 for first place, $75 for second, and $50 for third, with all runners-up guaranteed a prize of $20. And here’s a special shoutout to our 5th-grade finalists, Akira and Caylee, for breaking into the top three – their skills promise an exciting challenge for their older competitors!
Parents, school leaders, and community members are encouraged to cheer on these math champions in the finals on November 20. We need your energy to inspire our students to reach their peak performance!
This year’s competition has been made possible through the dedication of our outstanding teachers and principals across the network. A heartfelt thank you goes to each of you for your support and commitment to student success.
